I took this shot at an event in Scio, Oregon this past spring called “Lambie Days.” It’s held each year at Wolston Farms. I went there with my kids and my friend, Susan just for fun. But once there, it was just too darned cute of an event not to share. I wound up submitting and selling a story and photo to the local newspaper.
This shot I did not submit for two reasons: The lamb’s face doesn’t show well; and the boy in purple is my son. A journalist doesn’t generally submit photos with her own kids in them.
The little girl in the photograph had just celebrated a birthday the day before – the same day this Shetland lamb was born. I like this as a “moment shot.” It’s sweet the way the girl is searching her big brother’s face for his reaction to the little lamb. And look at those cute little kid hands.
