One of my favorite summer assignments is the frog jump at the Jefferson Mint Festival held each July in Jefferson, Oregon. I’ve covered the event for the Jefferson Review three out of the last four years.
It never gets old.
The frog jump embodies the spirit of small-town community. Laughter and togetherness with a little friendly competition to keep things lively. The mid-day summer sun light is often brutal, but the photo opportunities are many.
I really like how this man (Shannon’s) shirt complements the frog’s eye color and markings. I also like how kicked back the frog looks – as though he’s as likely to pop open a beer as he is to put a lot of effort into his jumps.
I’ll share some of my favorite frog-jump photos over the next few days. So stay tuned!
